2 Days Don Quixote’s Cupid Variation Workshop for Étude 1

A season of bountiful harvest brings an abundance of enriching opportunities for all of our Étude 1 students on 31 September and 1 October!
M.A BALLET’s Autumn Intensive Workshop for Étude 1 by ballet instructor Mr Koichi (2:30pm - 4:00pm) will focus on the variation belonging to the charming, yet whimsical Cupid in Act II of the renowned ballet Don Quixote.
A typically playful and mischievous character who graces scenes relating to dreams of love and romance, feelings of passion emanate through Cupid’s graceful and nimble movements. Serving as a pleasant interlude within the larger Grand Pas de Deux in Act III, this short solo contributes significantly to the overall festive ambience of Don Quixote’s final act.

This workshop signifies Étude 1 embarking on a variation from a celebrated ballet repertoire piece for the very first time. Accompanied by enchanting strains of orchestral music and fanciful stage aura, we firmly believe that this is truly a wonderful opportunity for our Young Artists to explore uncharted horizons and take a confident leap towards becoming a professional ballerina!

Introduction :
The Intensive Ballet & Contemporary Dance Workshop for Étude 2 & 3 (4:15pm - 7:00pm) by Mr Koichi is a two-day course that involves two insightful courses per session:
An intensive ballet technique class:
Students will undergo intensive guidance on all the minute technical details important to ballet, producing beautiful lines with their body and refining muscular awareness as they move.
A contemporary dance class with guided improvisation:
Our students’ dance awareness will be artistically challenged as Mr Koichi will provide creative prompts to effectively test their knowledge of class materials and confidence in improvised movements to reflect personal interpretations.
Why this workshop? Other dance classes tend to stifle creativity by only giving rigid technical instructions. This workshop provides an appropriate blend to nurture their decision making skills, and instil strong confidence by adapting from mistakes and experimenting with original ideas.
